Another national accolade for neighbourhood
Kelham Island is fast getting a national reputation as one of the most vibrant places in the country to live and the neighbourhood’s latest entry in a list of the ten coolest places in Britain is adding to its burgeoning stature.
Kelham Island was ranked 8th in TravelSupermarket’s Hip Hangout Neighbourhood Index, which highlights some of the coolest, most up-and-coming areas in Britain.
Also on the list were trendy neighbourhoods in Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Emma Coulthurst from TravelSupermarket said: “The Index will hopefully put Kelham Island even more on the map and encourage new and return visitors to the city”.
“We scoured the UK to find the most current, independent-feeling neighbourhoods. The destinations on the list are exciting areas, unspoiled by commercialism, where locals love to hang out. They offer an eclectic range of food and entertainment”.
“We looked at everything from independent coffee shops to vintage fashion outposts and the local creative culture – the things that set a hip destination apart from the rest of the pack”.
Last year Kelham Island was named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Live Guide while the neighbourhood was also mentioned in The New York Times list of 52 Places to visit in 2014.
